Make all prisons in England learning prisons: To reduce reoffending.

Petition Details

Most prisons in England operate by locking inmates in their cells most of the time and only letting them out for small periods of time. During the time they are out they are not doing anything that will help them reform or rehabilitate. Efforts should focus on helping understand criminal behaviour.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure exactly what you mean by "learning prisons", so we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. You'll need to give your full name to start a petition.
