Petition Action

Launch a Public Inquest Into The Ban on Pectus Excavatum Treatments in England.

Petition Details

NHS England have recently banned the treatment of Pectus Excavatum deformities in England putting the physiological and mental health of thousands at risk, and creating a serious public health emergency for some, since the condition is now proven to cause serious impairment of the heart.

Additional Information

NHS England have taken the decision based on funding concerns alone and have ignored the current knowledge of the condition. The government has caused this problem by seriously defunding the NHS in real terms. The government has given away policy decisions over to people not qualified to make these decisions. Aside from calling on the health minister and Simon Stevens to resign, this "government" should immediately create a public inquest into this ill thought out and dangerous decision.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because we aren't sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take. In any case, we can't accept petitions that call for people to lose their jobs.

You could start a new petition calling for the Government to routinely fund corrective surgery for Pectus Excavatum if that is something you would like to see happen.
