Rename the "Backstop" to "The Having Your Cake and Eating It Treaty 29/3/2021"
I simply cannot understand why we only hear about 2 or 3 simple aspects of the Backstop. 1) Stuck in it, as all other 26 member states would all have to agree. 2) When it would start 3) The EU don't want to be in it either. We never hear about what the backstop actually is, nor what it can deliver.
Ends free movement, costs nothing, free trade.
Why it is not an ideal position for the EU because we out of Europe in the two most important ways (paying in and immigration) - it is our trade agreement for nothing. So what if all 26 member states would have to agree. So do we. Our Vito.
New agreement would have to be free and allow UK to establish trade agreements around the world.
Pretty soon, everyone will want a Backstop.
