Introduce lessons on "modern life" as part of the national curriculum
Children/young adults in secondary schools should be educated on the "modern life" and the real "adult" world. They should have basic knowledge on things like pensions, mortgages, taxes etc
An example would from myself. Leaving Sixth Form I went straight into a full time job. With no knowledge apart from what my parents told me on "Adult Life". The first time I saw my first pay check, I was confused as to why some of my money was going toward "NI" and as a young adult I didn't quite understand. But with lessons on these basic but new formalities entering adulthood could help the younger generations to understand what to expect.
