Unconditional right for UK citizens to vote in UK affairs of national importance
People living in Europe or outside the UK for more than 15 years are exempt from voting or participating in UK referendums. As a British citizen and holder of a valid British passport I feel this is very unconstitutional especially when the passport holder is affected by such a decision.
As the United Kingdom embraced Europe, joining the EU in 1973, many people and industries integrated into Europe. Consequently, leaving the EU is detrimental to Europe and to the United Kingdom leaving many families and people who believe in an integrated Europe abandoned.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because we aren't sure what you mean by "affairs of national importance".
You could start a new petition calling for all British citizens to be able to vote in national referendums and parliamentary elections if that's something you would like to see happen.
