Petition Action

to criminalise bullying if the victim takes their own life

Petition Details

There are some laws in place that a bully could be tried for However if bullying takes place and the victim takes there own life currently nothing happens. In Brighton a 12 year old boy took his own life due to bullying. If the bullies are caught they will be expelled from school which isn’t enough.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/232431

Alternatively you could start a new petition calling for a criminal offence of "bullying leading to loss of life" if that's something you would like to see happen.
