Petition Action

Make the mandatory retirement age 48 in the United Kingdom

Petition Details

I think we work too long in the UK and have a poor work life balance.
Retiring early will enable us to enjoy our retirement whilst still fit and active.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because we aren't sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take. There isn't a mandatory retirement age in the UK at present, except in certain industries. We also aren't sure why you've picked 48.

You could start a new petition setting out changes to the state pension age if that's something you'd like to see happen.
