Prohibit the use of the phrase "Will of the people" for all MP's and Officials

Petition Details

Pro-Brexit MP's and Vote Leave supporters often un-fairly use the phrase "Will of the people" when dicussing Brexit and its justifications. This is manipulative and factually incorrect. (PLEASE CLICK MORE DETAILS)

Additional Information

51.9% of 72.2% of "The people" voted leave in 2016, using this phrase is discrediting the opinions of 48.63 million people. Without even considering the shift of public opinion and the young who were not allowed to vote for their future. Many 16 and 17 year olds that were unable to vote in 2016 are now helpless to voice their opinion. Leaving the EU WAS the will of 51.9% who voted nearly 3 years ago, "The people" did not and does not accurately represent this fact

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

It's for individual MPs to choose words to describe the result of the referendum, rather than the UK Government or Parliament as a whole.
