Petition Action

Let the public decide whether individually they want EU citizenship status.

Petition Details

Since the government and members of Parliament cannot decide collectively on terms of the Brexit deal, let the public decide whether they would like to keep their European citizenship status individually, because Brexit is not everyone's decision.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because it's the responsibility of the EU to decide who has EU citizenship and not the UK Government or Parliament.

You could start a new petition calling for the UK Government to seek to negotiate this outcome with the EU if that's something you would like to see happen.
