Petition Action

Scotland wishes to dissolve the political "union" with England.

Petition Details

In Scotland we the people are sovereign and we ask Westminster to acknowledge the sovereign right of the Scottish people to determine the form of Government best suited to their needs and Westminster has failed in this regard so we wish to dissolve the political "union" with England.

Additional Information

The treaty of "Union" 1707 has been breached many times including the example below.

The status of royal burghs as Article 21 provided for the protection of the rights of the royal burghs.

"That the Rights and Privileges of the Royal Boroughs in Scotland as they now are Do Remain entire after the Union and notwithstanding thereof".

Royal burghs were abolished in 1975 by the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973.
