Hold a public inquiry into the events leading up to the 2016 EU Referendum.
The inquiry should include the use of fake news and breaches of data protection laws by the campaigns in order to learn important lessons for any future referenda to be held. The outcome could be advisory guidelines on how a referendum with Constitutional significance should be held.
Such an inquiry is also supported by the Final Report of the Commons Select Committee on Digital, Culture, Media and Sport of 19. February 2019, which examined Disinformation and Fake News and its impact on our democracy.
