Review effect of breakthrough seizures caused by generic medications on driving privileges

Additional Information

I believe that when a person who has well controlled epilepsy suffers a breakthrough seizure due to a pharmacist replacing their branded medication with a generic substitute without the patient's informed consent, the case should be treated the same as when a person has a seizure after a physician directed medication change i.e. 6 months off the road as long as the previous medication regime is successfully re-introduced.

I believe that the Secretary of State's Honorary Medical Advisory Panel on Driving and Diseases of the Nervous System should introduce guidance on this subject as there is currently none in the At a glance Guide to the Current Medical Standards of Fitness to Drive or Annex III proposals to Directive 91/439/EEC and 2006/126/EC.
