Make University Funding fairer.

Petition Details

Under current legislation, the household income for the PREVIOUS tax year impacts your uni loans and must include all adults currently living in the house, even if they didn't live there previously.

Additional Information

Martin Lewis recently highlighted the case of a student who was forced to leave uni due her mother's partner moving in reducing her maintenance loan and making uni unaffordable.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. In particular, we're not sure what changes you'd like to make to how entitlements to student loans are calculated.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

There's already a petition about how student finance entitlements are assessed, which you might like to sign if it calls for something you'd like to happen. You're more likely to get action on an issue if you sign and share a single petition.
