Petition Action

Condemn Brunei for it's law that punishes LGBT people by stoning them to death

Petition Details

We the undersigned call on the government to publicly condemn Brunei's passing of a new law that punishes gay sex through stoning and whipping. The passing of such a law represents a grave threat to human rights, and we wish to see the governemnt condemn this law in the strongest possible terms.

Additional Information

According to a new penal code that will be passed on April 3rd, any individuals found practicing same sex activity will be punished through whipping and stoning, possibly even to death. Such a passing of a new law has received widespread criticism from organizations promoting human rights and progressive LGBT laws. We call upon the UK government to release a statement that condemns Brunei's passing of this new law, as well as possible trade sanctions that could be implemented against Brunei.
