The "No Comment" response during police questioning to no longer be permitted.
After watching 24hr in Police Custody - in particular the episode relating to knife crime, "no comment" when presented to those in custody for stabbing an 18yr old boy to death, clearly showed a total waste of valuable police time. We need to stop the response "no comment" to get results quickly.
Stop allowing this response would help prepare cases with more truthful statements, save time for police and allow these limited and valuble resources to get an outcome faster.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
Where someone chooses to remain silent, this silence may already result in an adverse inference being drawn. People are informed when they are arrested that they do not have to say anything, but that it may harm their defence if they do not mention when questioned something which they later rely on in court.
We're not sure exactly what further action you'd like the Government or Parliament to take.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
