Members of Parliament should be required to represent their constituents

Petition Details

The referendum held in 2016 showed the express wishes of the electorate and any MP who votes in parliament against the express wishes of their constituency should’ve required to resign. Whether the constituency voted Leave or Remain, that is the position they MUST take. They represent the people!!

Additional Information

403 constituency voted LEAVE, and 229 voted remain yet we cannot get a majority in the important decisions, therefore over 90 MPs are voting expressly against their constituents, in reality the number is much jiggers as there are MPs voting leave whose constituency voted remain and the votes are not close in parliament . How can these people stand up, look us in the eye and say they represent US rather than themselves?

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

How an MP votes would be an individual decision for that person, and not a decision for the Government or Parliament as a whole.
