Debate risks of a Council Tax Strike if no Brexit. No Representation No Taxation.

Petition Details

A principle of 'No Taxation Without Representation' is long established in democracy. The actions of MP's and unelected Lords blocking the votes of 17.4m people increases the risk of civil disobedience. The principle dates back to the 1700's and believed to be a catalyst to the American Revolution.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because we aren't sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

We understand that you disagree with the way some MPs and Peers have voted on Brexit but Council tax is set and collected by local authorities and not the UK Government or Parliament.

If you would like to ensure the UK leaves the European Union either without or without a deal you could sign a petition about that.
