Remove alcohol subsidy in the House of Commons.

Petition Details

If anyone wishes to buy alcohol they can do so but this shouldn’t be subsidised with taxpayers money as it’s an unnecessary luxury. Happy for subsidy on other food and drink to remain but in good conscience, alcohol subsidising should not continue. National debt has tripled. We can’t afford it.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Catering services for MPs, their staff, House of Commons staff and others in the House of Commons are provided by an in-house team who do not provide a subsidised service in the commercial sense.

You can find out more about the net costs of catering services in the House of Commons here:

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you'd like the UK Gocernment or Parliament to do.
