Make unfulfilled election manifestos a criminal offence if a majority win.
Political parties are voted for based on the content of their manifesto. The public need assurances that these are legitimate and legally binding so that each party and MP is not falsely elected by misrepresenting their intentions.
There is a trade description act that makes it an offence to falsely describe goods for sale and yet nothing to hold political parties to account when they do the complete opposite of what they promised in their election manifesto, on which they received the votes based on.
This is totally unacceptable to the public and we demand that MPs be held to account.
This would also ensure that only obtainable goals would be set out in the manifesto and the public could believe that it.
