Make it law for cyclists to have appropriate vehicle insurance and road tax
A cyclist crashed in to my vehcile causing over £10k worth of damage to my car.
As the cyclist didn't have vehcle insurance I was unable to claim from the other party meaning my insurance premiums have gone through the roof and I was deemed 'at fault' despite the fact the cyclist crashed in to me.
Cyclists using the highways should be governed by the same vehicle insurance and road tax laws as all other vehicles in the event an accident occurs.
In the event a cyclists hits another vehicle and the cyclist is at fault, why should the driver of the motorvehicle have to claim against his/her insurance policy and incur inflated premiums upon renewal of their policy.
This has been a grey area for years that needs a significant overhaul
