Protect citizens of Brunei against anti-LGBT laws

Petition Details

This petition is a call for the UK government to publicly condemn and put pressure on Brunei to revoke its anti LGBTQ+ laws that will see those in same sex relationships punishable by stoning to death.

Additional Information

Other newly introduced measures by Sultan Hassanal include punishments that are in clear breach of human rights. These include:

- amputation if found guilty of theft
- a maximum penalty of death if found guilty of adultery, sodomy, robbery, insult or defamation of the Prophet Muhammad
- lesbian sex punishable by penalty of 40 strokes of the cane and/or up to 10 years in jail
- public whipping for women who have abortions

In some cases, these laws can be applied to children.
