Petition Action

Revise parliamentary procedure to remove the title "Right Honourable"

Petition Details

The behaviour of Mps in the house, attempting to subvert Brexit, has been nothing short of traitorous. We, the people of the United Kingdom feel that our elected representatives are no longer deserving of the prefix "Right Honourable", to reflect their disconnect with the people they no longer serve

Additional Information

MPs from leave constituencies are pressing their own remain agendas. Manifesto promises have been disregarded by both parties. Legal requirements to consult both houses prior to obtaining an extension to Article 50 were ignored by the prime minister.
In short, parliament has openly conspired to derail Brexit in a shameless manner. None of the MPs deserves the title Right Honourable any more.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the title "Right Honourable" is given to Privy Councillors when they are appointed to the Privy Council. It isn't given to all MPs and it isn't given by Parliament, so Parliament can't take it away. In any case, we can't accept petitions asking for an honour to be taken away from someone.

You might like to sign this petition instead, which would mean MPs could call each other by their names rather than titles:
