Change the by laws on the taking of fish from canals and rivers for consumption.
By laws for the retention of fish of certain types and sizes needs to be updated and enforced harder in uk waterways. Taking fish home of certain species should be amended as well, due to certain species in decline.
If you check by laws of course fish sizes and types of fish we would commonly try to protect get eaten and taken because the law allows it. but due to the higher interests of these laws by people living in the UK and new British citizens who eat these fish the larger amount of these fish now are eaten with no care to stocks, instead of being bred and sold for this reasons. A lot of private fisheries have been hit hard for these type of fish and now the waterways have been hit even harder.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do to change the rules on taking fish from canals and rivers.
In any case, many fishing byelaws are regional rules applied by the Environment Agency. We can only accept petitions which call for actions that are the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
