Ban Halal slaughter of animals in UK under animal cruelty
The use of Halal slaughter causes the animal unnecessary stress and pain and should be banned under The cruelty to animals act 1876
Brain signals have shown that calves do appear to feel pain when slaughtered according to Jewish and Muslim religious law, strengthening the case for adapting the practices to make them more humane.

EU law requires animals for the food chain to be stunned (made unconscious) prior to killing, so that death should be painless. There are exceptions for religious slaughter, However, these exceptions are subject to ongoing concern, particularly voiced by animal welfare organisations
