Petition Action

Start meaningful discussions around school refusal

Petition Details

We below would like to petition the government to start meaningful discussions around school refusal and the increasing number of children and young people in the UK affected by this.

Additional Information

Rising numbers of children are refusing to attend school due to anxiety, panic attacks and not feeling supported once they are there. Increased demands in testing and examinations are contributing to this, as are ever stretched school budgets.
There are over 6,000 members in school refusal social media groups (growing daily) and an increasing number of home educators all with very similar stories of how their children are being let down by the current system.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you're concerned about school refusal, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
