Eliminate MPs subsidised meals and alcohol

Petition Details

There is no reason why MPs should have subsidised meals and alcohol whilst children from poor families go with out eating properly.

Additional Information

It is obscene and immoral that MPs award themselves subsidies for meals. £58+ millions,(2016), which could be better used feeding the children from poor families, with free school meals. The wages that an MP gets along with their expenses, is more than adequate to pay properly for the food and alcohol that they consume.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Catering services for MPs, their staff, House of Commons staff and others in the House of Commons are provided by an in-house team who do not provide a subsidised service in the commercial sense.

You can find out more about the net costs of catering services in the House of Commons here:

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you'd like the UK Government or Parliament to do.
