Petition Action

Make netting to prevent birds nesting an ABSOLUTE offence. No get out clause.

Petition Details

The government responded to a recent petition regarding make netting illegal but they have given a get out clause by saying “Bird netting should be kept to a minimum and used only to help protect birds during development”
This should be removed and make it an absolute offence, no exceptions.

Additional Information

It is written in black and white and the law states
“Wild birds are protected by provisions in the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It is an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 to cause unnecessary suffering to a bird by an act, or a failure to act, where the person concerned knew, or ought reasonably to have known, that the act, or failure to act, would or be likely to cause unnecessary suffering”
Bird netting causes suffering and death, one death is one too many and it is to stop!!
