Stop offering meaningless platitudes when responding to petitions.
Many people sign reasonable petitions to express their opinions and ask for a change but are met with nothing better than a raspberry from the government.
When 6 million people are replied to with a soundbite rather than an attentive and willing government it shows that our democratic system is failing and should be overhauled. Too many reasonable citizens are starting to think that the system is flawed.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
The Petitions Committee already considers all government responses to ensure that they meet the standards agreed with the Leader of the House, including considering whether the response directly addresses the request of the petition. When the responses don’t meet the rules, the Committee can already decide to request a revised response from the government. We're therefore not sure exactly what further action you'd like to see.
The response to this petition was provided by the Department for Exiting the European Union. You are very welcome to contact them, to let them know your views. You can find their contact details here:

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
