The eu takes one fifth of vat we pay - on leaving vat should be cut accordingly
As the eu takes one fifth of vat we pay - on leaving the eu the government should cut the vat we pay on goods etc down to well below 15%. This can be done with the help of money no longer being paid to the eu on leaving.

We can't accept your petition because the UK contributes 0.3% of its VAT receipts to the EU Budget rather than a fifth. We aren't sure what action you'd like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

You could start a new petition calling for VAT to be cut below 15%, the minimum allowed under EU law, after leaving the EU if that is something you would like to see happen.
