Lower the gestational viability of preterm babies from 24 weeks to 22 weeks

Petition Details

The reason behind this petition is because I know of babies born at 22 weeks gestational age to survive and my little girl was born at 23 weeks gestation and is thriving, more needs to be done if the babies are born fighting the doctors should intervene

Additional Information

There are premature baby groups all over the world with babies who were said to be given a 0% chance of survival yet they are still alive and doing very well if a baby is born breathing the medical staff should intervene, these are tiny human beings who deserve more respect a deserve a chance to make this world a better place

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because this would be a medical decision made by healthcare professionals and not the UK Government or Parliament.

You could start a new petition calling for the Government to initiate a review of the available evidence on gestational viability if that is something you would like to see happen.
