Ask the Queen to invite the USA to join the Commonwealth
The "colonies" in North America were part of our family of nations before a little acrimony tore us apart. Since then we have become the greatest of allies, but, as with the Irish Republic, have lost a formal, "echo of Empire" connection.
The acceptance of such a invitation would mark the Queen's reign and the President's June visit with an historical event proving the imagination and openness of the former and the understanding of our "Special Relationship" by the latter, which may help to heal the CURRENT acrimony here resulting from his popularity among our cousins over there.
