Grant the 2016 EU Referendum legally binding status, so that it may be annulled.

Petition Details

The 2016 EU Referendum has been investigated by the Electoral Commission and concluded that both of the main Leave campaigns committed serious electoral fraud, leading to police investigations. The result however cannot be annulled as the referendum was advisory only. Granting the referendum

Additional Information

Legally Binding status would allow the commission to force the result to be annulled by the government.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because we're not sure what you would like the UK Government or Parliament to do. The terms of the 2016 Referendum were set out in legislation passed by Parliament prior to its taking place. It's not possible to retrospectively change the legal basis for a referendum that has already happened.
