Petition Action

Revoke legislation which obligates maximising economic recovery of UK oil & gas.

Petition Details

The UK Infrastructure Act 2015 makes it a legal obligation to "maximise economic recovery of UK petroleum" - committing this & future governments to maximise emissions from UK fossil fuels.

At the same time, they have legal obligations to minimise them: essential because of the climate crisis.

Additional Information

The Infrastructure Act was passed in 2015.

The Climate Change Act was passed in 2008.
It is legally-binding national legislation to address climate change. UK also signed the Paris Agreement.
