Petition Action

Ban the term 'Humane Slaughter' for the killing of animals

Petition Details

Slaughter methods in the UK should not be legally called humane. Because the stunning methods are rarely successful and animals feel unimaginable levels of pain, this is evident in numerous videos and eye witness testimonies. Slaughter is NOT humane and classing it as such should be banned in the UK

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions that call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not clear what action you would like to be taken in this case.

There is no official labelling of products as 'humane slaughter' in the UK, though all animal products are required to confirm with food standards and animal welfare laws.

You may want to consider starting a petition that calls for such labelling in specific cases, or for changes to food standards or animal welfare relating to animal products.
