Introduce three-day weekends to combat climate change
It is becoming increasingly evident that the climate problem needs to be addressed. Introducing a three-day weekend has the potential to significantly reduce emissions and improve the trajectory we are currently on.
Providing that working hours are reduced, hourly wages are kept constant, and increased leisure time is spent pursuing happiness in more time consuming and less consumption intensive ways, three day weekends could reduce consumption and the emissions it causes. Furthermore, more leisure time and a detachment from material aspirations could lead to greater human prosperity, achieving a synergy between increased human fulfilment and environmental sustainability.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because it's about something that the UK Government and Parliament are not responsible for. This would be a decision for employers.
UK and EU law places limits on the total amount of time someone can work during a week and the minimum amount they can be paid an hour, but it doesn't specify how many or which days of the week they have to work.
You could start a new petition calling for a law placing limits on the number of days someone is allowed to work during a week if that is something you would like to see happen.
