Petition Action

To assess the standard of teaching and learning in PE within the primary sector.

Petition Details

With childhood obesity at a all time high in the UK I feel that PE within Primary schools needs to improve. PE is a subject that is not taken seriously enough within schools. Teachers do not prioritise PE as other subjects are deemed more important. Instead schools hire level 2 "sports coaches".

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Ofsted, not the UK Parliament and Government, are responsible for assessing teaching and learning in schools.

You could start a new petition about something the UK Parliament and Government are responsible for. For example, you could start a new petition asking the UK Government and Parliament to investigate whether changes need to be made to PE in schools to tackle childhood obesity.
