Petition Action

Eight former servicemen had their Victoria Crosses confiscated

Petition Details

They were convicted of a criminal offence. This should not detract from their bravery.

Additional Information

These brave men were awarded the Victoria Cross for extreme bravery in the face of the enemy. Being convicted later does not detract from that. I know that the Royal Warrant for the Victoria Cross says that `Should the holder of a Victoria Cross do anything to discredit the honour in any way he should (Not must!) be made to forfeit the honour`

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because we aren't sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

You could start a new petition calling for these awards to be instated if that is something you would like to see happen.
