Stop taxpayer money being used on funding luxurious royal lifestyle

Petition Details

End the abuse of taxpayer money at the hands of the Royal Family in maintaining their lavish standard of living. They may be our Royal Family, but we should not be funding their home renovations or shopping sprees. Let's bring the monarchy into the 21st century properly.

Additional Information

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have recently moved into Frogmore House, after completing renovations which cost some £3 million and included a yoga suit and a personal gym. Where did the funds for these lavish changes come from? The queen’s Sovereign Grant — a sum of money funded by British taxpayers. I say this is unacceptable. And is only the tip of the iceberg of lavish spending on behalf of the royals at the expense of the tax payer. These, and other expenses, should be self funded.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. The Sovereign Grant is fixed at a percentage of the income from the Crown Estate so is already self-funded.

We also cannot accept petitions that do not include a full name.
