Inquiry into institutions, businesses and interests that benefited from slavery.

Petition Details

Now is a better time than ever to conduct a widespread, comprehensive inquiry into institutions, businesses and interests of the United Kingdom which benefited from the suffering of millions of people during the course of the slavery - the effects of which still carry to modern day Britain.

Additional Information

Cambridge University is conducting an “in-depth academic study into ways in which it contributed to, benefited from or challenged the Atlantic slave trade and other forms of coerced labour during the colonial era”.

A similar extensive inquiry needs to commence by the UK Government. An inquiry that delves into the far reaches of government, political discourse, business and interests to show how modern Britain has been and is shaped by the discourse of the colonial oppression of its past.
