Fund UK Arts and Culture properly.
In recent years many libraries have closed. Museums and art galleries are under threat, and arts venues are struggling to survive. All are victims of the government's austerity policy which deprives county councils of adequate funding for vital services.
We call upon the government to provide sufficient funding for county councils, and to recognise that cultural services, many of which are non-statutory, are nonetheless essential for people's wellbeing and require adequate funding and properly trained staff.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because we aren't sure what you would like the UK Government or Parliament to do to fund UK arts and culture properly.
You could start a new petition calling for the Government to provide ring-fenced funding to local authorities for libraries, museums and art galleries if that is something you would like to see happen.
