Make it a criminal offence for serving MPs to tell lies whilst in public office.
MPs are representative of all of their constituents. It is an office of trust and granted by public vote. When elected they represent all constituents from all parties including those abstaining from voting. They also represent those that are ineligible to vote.
MPs are paid from the public purse and must display the highest levels of integrity, honesty and transparency. They must be held accountable. They must be honest in all that they do as they represent British democracy and hold a public perception of trust. An oath of office should be enshrined in law compelling all MPs to speak the truth on every matter no matter what the circumstances are. They do not represent themselves, they represent an office bestowed upon them through public trust.
