My grandson Theo is currently battling the fatal SMA type 1 disease . It is currently the number one genetic disorder which takes the lives of babies before their first birthday . It is a cruel illness , and one simple bloodtest could save another family going through what we are going through right now. One in 40 of us are a carrier and paired with a partner who is a carrier there is a 1 in 4 chance of your child being affected .All pregnant woman should be offered a free simple blood test along side all the other tests offered. This would prevent the heartache we are going through right now .
