Petition Action

Make Solihull Hospital take cardiac arrest patients again

Petition Details

Solihull has a 'rapidly ageing population' which has been identified as a key issue by Solihull Council
ONS shows Solihulls population is older than the national average (21% of pop. 65+)
There is also the distance from certain wards in Solihull to Heartlands e.g Dorridge which is 30 minutes.

Additional Information

A notice reportedly issued to WMAS emergency crews at Erdington/Solihull Hubs, states: “All staff need to be aware that with immediate effect Solihull Hospital will no longer accept out of hospital cardiac arrests."

A registered paramedic, who no longer works for WMAS, told SU: “... As a Paramedic with family in the area I have concerns for the outcome of this decision, I would imagine that mortality rates will increase.”

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions which call for actions that are the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

This decision would be the responsibility of the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, rather than the UK Government or Parliament. You could raise the issue with the Trust. You can find out how to contact the Trust here:

www.uhb.nhs.uk/contact.htm

You could also raise the issue with you MP. Find out how to contact your MP here:

www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/

You could start a new petition calling for an action which is the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament. For example, you could start a petition calling for increased finding for A&E services in England.
