Invest now in the ageing public leisure centre infrastructure.
Funds should be made available to councils in the UK for urgent redevelopment of the ageing public leisure centre infrastructure.
South Manchester has an extreme lack of modern public leisure facilities with private companies opening expensive gyms there is a gap in decent and modern but affordable facilities for the majority.
Developments for new schools and hospitals public leisure centres have fallen behind the times and are now extremely out of date and unattractive venues to visit. They are no longer fit for purpose.
Redevelopment in these facilities should turn them into public community and leisure centres with more than just sports but developed with bright open spaces / public squares that can act as a central location for community events and gatherings and should establish the identity of the community and the area to install a sense of pride in that community.
