Petition Details

Currently, when a person dies out with the UK, the family and friends of the deceased need pay to have the body returned to the UK. This can cost over £5000 in some cases, with most families relying on fundraising to raise enough capital to pay to have the body returned to the UK.

Additional Information

British Consular staff currently put you in touch with an international funeral director. Currently, if the deceased's funeral costs are not covered by insurance, families will be expected to pay all the costs including hospital bills and repatriation (bringing home) of the body and belongings.
