Make locational geography a bigger part of the curriculum
Currently, school geography lessons focus on topics such as natural disasters and globalisation whilst glossing over location geography. This leads to situations where young people can name the different types of volcanoes but can't locate major cities on a map. These priorities need to be switched.
The topics that I feel need more focus are the ones used in day-to-day life. These include:
Map reading (both physical and digital for the modern day)
Countries of the world (includes location, flag, capital city, language spoken and currency used)
Cities and counties of the UK
