Review of the apprenticeship standards for England (SASE) for mature apprentices
Apprenticeships are a way of increasing knowledge within organisations; however to enable mature students to embark on this they have to have achieved GCSE Grade C [or equivalent] in English/Maths. The current approach does not take into account FE obtained post leaving school in relevant subjects.
I have made a complaint to the ESFA and they advised:
I can confirm that these qualifications are not set by the ESFA but are taken from the Specification of apprenticeship standards for England (SASE), July 2017. ....
We have raised concerns about omissions in the equivalency tables with policy colleagues in the Department for Education (DfE) and the Institute for Apprenticeships (IfA). I can confirm that the equivalency tables are currently under review.
Can this approach be reviewed?
