To include "statutorily homeless people" under Part V of the Equality Act 2010
To be found "statutorily homeless" a person must be found to have been made "unintentionally homeless"; homeless through no fault or choice of their own.
As homeless people are at a disadvantage when applying for work, they should be afforded the protection the Equality Act 2010 Part V provides .
The definition of statutory homelessness can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/homelessness-data-notes-and-definitions#statutory-homelessness
The Equality Act 2010 Part V can be found here: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2010/15/part/5
Homelessness affects every aspect of a person's life from their employment to their personal relationships. Whilst redundancy can result in homelessness, too often, homelessness can result in a person being made redundant or demoted. This must stop.
