Name storms after England fast bowlers in this Cricket World Cup year.

Petition Details

If England win the Cricket World Cup this year, in England, the country could honour its cricketers by changing the naming convention for storms so that each storm is named after a great England fast bowler, past or present. For example, Archer, Bedser, through to Snow, etc.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We cannot accept petitions for which the Government or Parliament is not directly responsible.

The Met Office is responsible for the naming of storms, and takes suggestions from the public on which names to use. You can find more information, including how to suggest a name, on their website www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-storm-centre/index
