MPs should live in social housing on minimum wage for their first year.
The rich poor divide in the UK is getting worse and the MPs in charge of looking after those at the lower end of the scale don’t know what it is like to be there. They have to allocate money to services without ever seeing or understanding the direct impact on people’s lives and society itself
MPs and the government in general have a responsibility to understand and relate to all aspects of society. With current pay and expenses they will no doubt understand middle to upper class and what would better the lives of themselves and their piers, but how many have lived where the help is needed most and have a real understanding of what is needed.
